The Universal Audio Apollo X8 is an 18x24 Thunderbolt 3 audio interface with Realtime UAD Hexa Core processor and the Realtime Analog Classics Plus plug-in bundle.

Description

The Universal Audio Apollo X8 features brand new world-class audio converters designed around a new analogue signal path delivering a truly pristine sound. It provides an impressive 129dB of dynamic range and -118dB THD+N and delivers outstanding performance with an open and incredibly natural sound that favourably compares against audio converters in any class.

The Apollo x8 also boasts six Realtime UAD Hexa Core DSP chips giving you 50% more UAD plug-in processing power than previous Apollo interfaces. This means you can now record and mix larger sessions with increased UAD plug-in counts.

The Apollo X8 includes four Unison preamps that let you track through exacting plug-in emulations of Neve, API, Manley, SSL and Universal Audio channel strips. Thanks to the detailed emulation of input impedance, gain stage and component-level circuit, Unison preamps give you the feeling and the sound of using the original hardware preamp.

With eight analogue inputs and outputs in total allowing you to record eigh channel simultaneously through plug-ins with near-zero latency, but also mix in 7.1 surround sound for video games, broadcast and even the web. Furthermore, a selectable +24dBu option ensures easy integration with mixing consoles and high-end pro audio equipment.

Using the Thunderbolt 3 protocol, up to 4 Apollo interfaces (or 6 UAD-2 devices) can be cascaded to increase channel count as your needs grow, using the same zero-latency tracking capabilities. These are backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 1 and 2 using an optional adapter. If that’s not enough, additional ADAT I/O is provided to accommodate external preamps such as the Universal Audio 4-710d.
